Kate “… deals powerful emotions with a tender hand.”

I’m a USA-Today Bestselling Author of romance that captivates and entertains.
I’m a storyteller, my chosen medium being the written (and sometimes spoken) word. Growing up, telling stories got me out of—and sometimes into—trouble. But the stories I told myself kept the monsters under the bed from joining forces with the monsters in the closet so I could sleep.
I was born a Connecticut Yankee, but while working toward my Master’s Degree in English Literature, I followed my heart—and my husband—to Canada.
I’ve always loved stories, in books, on the screen, and tales spun orally. And that led me to want to be a writer from an early age. When my grade four teacher told me “Oh, no, my dear. Only men can be authors,” I took that to heart and for many years, didn’t even try to write.
But look at me now!
I’ve been published by three different publishers, been translated into five languages, won and finalled in a lot of contests, got nominated for a RITA, made the Honor Roll of Romance Writers of America for sales over a rather large number, and hit the USA-Today Bestseller List.
Some obstacles that come out of the blue and can derail a career, even a life. In 1995, I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. I was extremely lucky that my cancer was Stage IA, so early it was almost unheard of at the time. Surgery followed by chemotherapy—and writing—became my reality for almost a year.
In addition to finally becoming a published author, there were other things I had to wait until I was an adult to obtain: Cats, Golden Retrievers and Morgan horses. I love most animals—I’m a bit iffy about reptiles—but cats and Goldens just resonate with my soul. Owning a Morgan horse is like owning a living piece of North American history. So, I live in a city with cats and dogs, and the horse lives on a farm.
Do I even have to tell you that all of my stories contain at least one significant animal?
I’ve been bringing my early books up to date and will be publishing them through Book View Café and Rose Daughter Books. They will be available in digital and print formats through links on the website. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised by how they’ve stood the test of time.
Check out my novel, No Limit To Love and read about How ‘No Limit To Love’ Came To Be and Here to Stay….
Going forward, I’m writing a contemporary, sweetly sensual series of romances, some with a bit of suspense, all with ghostly encounters of the warm and loving kind. And, okay, sometimes the well-intentioned but overbearing kind, or the perky but annoying kind. Ghosts are just people who happen to not be alive, with all the good and not-so-good qualities of regular people.
The “Haunting Clear Falls” series also will be published by Book View Café and Rose Daughter Books, and will be available in digital and print formats.
Audio? Not yet, but I’m considering it. I love having stories read aloud to me, and so do many people.
So come explore the site. There’s something for readers as well as writers, and some treats for animal lovers. Learn about my books and come join my imaginary friends on their journeys to the happy-ever-afters they so richly deserve.
Best wishes and happy reading,
Kate Freiman, Author
